We have a team of Psychiatric Doctors, Psychologists and administrative staff who are trained in Telemedicine, and can provide an excellent and much appreciated service through video conferencing tools.
This service works really well for patients who are unable to come to the hospital, due to travel difficulties and for those living in remote and rural areas, which is one of the important applications of telemedicine in mental health.
It helps to assess patients and relatives who live overseas and are unable to attend face-to-face appointments with the doctor.
We are also able to provide psychological and family interventions, education and supportive counselling, through this service using our team of Psychologists.
Videoconferencing is the tool, or kit, most often associated with telepsychiatry. It transmits simultaneous live sound and moving pictures between sites through a software videolink link which takes 2-3 minutes to activate it.
The videolink is helpful to assess new patients, review existing out-patients and recently discharged patients from the wards.
Telemedicine saves time and has reduced travel time, not only for the clinicians involved in the provision of care, but also for the patients and their families.
To arrange for an assessment through this service, please contact Shadithya Hospital on , 044-22640745 and the reception staff would help you to set it up. You need a computer with a broadband service from your side.
